Engineering & Traffic
The city's Engineering Office is responsible for planning, designing & directing projects such as roads, bridges, storm sewer, water and sanitary sewer. The Traffic Division is responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the city’s traffic signal system, traffic control signs, and all pavement markings.

Finance
The Finance Office maintains financial records for the city, as well as all official agendas, minutes, ordinances, resolutions, municipal election procedures, alcoholic beverage licensing, personnel records, etc. as required by South Dakota Codified Laws (SDCL).

The City of Huron has two fire stations.

Golf Courses
Municipal golf courses are operated by the City of Huron through a Golf Course Advisory Board which is appointed by the Mayor.

Huron Public Library
The Huron Public Library will strive to enrich the quality of life in Huron by providing library materials and services which anticipate and respond to the informational, educational, and entertainment needs of Huron residents to promote life-long learning.

Huron Regional Airport (HON) is located on the north edge of the City of Huron, South Dakota.

Inspections & Planning
The city's Inspections Department is responsible for issuing building permits and monitoring the progress of residential and commercial building projects to ensure compliance with adopted codes and standards. The City Planner is the staff member primarily responsible for the administration of the City Zoning Ordinance and the Huron Comprehensive Plan.

The Parks and Recreation Department offers year-round leisure activities that reach out to the community to promote mental stimulation, physical fitness and self-awareness.

The Huron Police Department serves the Huron community with law enforcement protection 24 hours a day.

The city's Street Department is responsible for street repair, street sweeping, blading and graveling streets and alleys, and snow removal on city streets.
